There is a lot going on in and around the world right now, and on so many levels it feels like we are moving backwards. However, in the spirit of staying positive and giving thanks, I want to let you know how Easter Seals has been able to take some small steps forward thanks to the support of our donors, sponsors and community partners.
Over the past couple of months, the generosity of our supporters has allowed us to provide funding to some of the families on our waitlist, enabling their children to get the equipment they desperately need. These items have made an incredible impact on their daily lives, and I want to share a few of the messages we have received from parents.
“My son needs a walker seat as he is having an extremely hard time lifting his feet and holding himself while attempting to use his walker. He needs it for safety as well as support or he will not be able to walk in his walker. Being able to use the walker will help him use and exercise his muscles. It will also give him the motivation and encouragement to try and take more steps independently. Without the donors, I would not have been able to get this equipment for my son. This is making a huge difference in our lives.”

“A bath transfer and commode system will make a huge difference in daily taking care of our son. Having family members with special needs requires expenses often exceeding the family income. So, when you really need something very necessary but so expensive, it becomes a big problem for the whole family. Only thanks to all of you, dear donors, can we get such necessary equipment that will make our son’s and our family’s life much easier and safer.”

As you can see, having the necessary equipment is life changing not only for the children but for their entire family. To everyone who has contributed to give these children and families a better quality of life, thank you! We appreciate you and are grateful for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
There are many more children on our waitlist in need of essential equipment who we are hoping to help before the end of the year. If you are able to make a donation, you will be putting smiles on their faces and giving the opportunity for a life with greater independence, dignity and safety.
Thanks to our generous donors we have also been able to offer campers who participated in our virtual camp this summer Camp in a Box, a box full of virtual camp swag and activities to do at home. I am also thrilled to let you know we are working on extending our virtual camp program and have a camp fire planned for the end of October.
We are excited to be launching the 2020 virtual version of our Celebrity Hockey Classic Series – No guts. No glory. No games. This year we have five tournaments where teams will fundraise for a spot to draft an NHL celebrity for an in-person experience in 2021! Check out this video for details.
In addition, we have some family-friendly fall events taking place – please check out the ENews for details.
Your feedback is important to us and we want to know how we can improve, so please take a few minutes and complete our ENews readers survey now.
Thank you again for your support, and warmest wishes for a happy Thanksgiving from everyone at Easter Seals.
