Earlier this week we launched March is Easter Seals Month, our annual fundraising and awareness campaign. I hope you will join us in spreading awareness and bringing attention to the challenges faced by children and youth with physical disabilities.
This month marks one full year of families struggling to cope with a lack of personal care, therapy, and respite support as a result of the pandemic. With lockdowns and so many restrictions still in place, the children and families we serve continue to face unprecedented challenges. Our job is to do everything we can to give kids access to the right mobility and accessibility equipment that will help avoid injury and make life at home easier and safer for both children and parents.
Throughout the month we will be featuring Easter Seals kids and families, checking in with them, and sharing their stories. You can help by following us and resharing posts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.
Our Camp E-aster Seals team has been busy developing a new 7-day Spring Break program that will begin on April 12. The program will offer both online and at-home components to provide access to even more participants. Registration for Camp E-aster Seals Spring Break virtual camp will begin on Monday, March 8.
On March 12, we will be launching our annual Paper Eggs program in retailers throughout the province. If you see our Paper Eggs in a retailer near you, I hope you will buy one in support of the kids.
Many of our fundraising initiatives are still on hold; however, we are moving ahead with some of our Telethons, although they may look a little different or take on a different format. I want to thank all the dedicated supporters in Kingston, Peterborough, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Toronto and Windsor who are forging ahead and raising funds towards these annual events
Despite the challenges we have in fundraising, we continue to receive a steady influx of requests for equipment funding. Children shouldn’t have to wait to be able to move around their home freely. If you or your organization can lend your support, please visit MarchIsEasterSealsMonth.org or make a direct donation at Donate.EasterSeals.org.
Brighter days are ahead. I hope you will stay vigilant in helping to stop the spread, so we can all get there quicker.
Sincerely,
Kevin J. Collins
