For the past 37 years, Larry Breslow was a familiar face in the pledge centre at the Toronto Telethon. Assisting with the Angel Board, ensuring the panelists were seated and ready to go, Larry was always there to offer a helping hand. Larry began volunteering at the first Easter Seals Telethon in Toronto in 1983. In 1985, he took his place in the pledge centre with his good friend Alan Alexander. The pledge centre is definitely one of the busiest sections of the Telethon. Here, Larry assisted with handling donations, compiling totals every half hour, ensuring panelists were ready and comfortable on air, and he even answered additional donation calls when all the lines were busy. Larry’s job at the Telethon was a two-day job, and hectic at that, but he always did it with a smile.
Sadly, Larry passed away this past July. He will be terribly missed by the Easter Seals Telethon committee and crew, but we know he will be at future Telethons in spirit cheering on our fundraising goals. We are immensely grateful for all Larry did for the Easter Seals Telethon as well as all the kids and families we serve.
