Your gift will give kids the experience of a lifetime.
This Giving Tuesday you have the opportunity to make a kid’s camp dream come true next summer at Easter Seals Ontario’s fully accessible summer camps! We are asking for your help to reach our goal of raising $15,000 to give kids with physical disabilities 50 action-packed days at camp.
Why is Easter Seals camp important?
The importance of childhood social and recreational activities cannot be overstated; however, children and youth with physical disabilities often face barriers that limit these essential experiences. Easter Seals camps are among the few places in Ontario that offer fully accessible and inclusive camp programming for children, youth, and young adults with physical disabilities. When campers visit Camp Merrywood in eastern Ontario or Camp Woodeden in southwestern Ontario, they get to try new things, push their boundaries, and discover what they are truly capable of when physical limitations are removed.
Easter Seals kids look forward to camp all year long, and for some, it is the only chance they get to sleep away from home while receiving the care and support they need. At camp, they can connect with their peers, nurture important social skills, and forge friendships that last a lifetime. For kids with physical disabilities, Easter Seals camp is a life-changing experience like no other.
The Camp Experience
Easter Seals camps are a place where “I can’t” doesn’t exist. That’s because they are one of the few places in the province that provide a fully accessible camping experience for kids with physical disabilities. The entire specialized camp experience has been created with them in mind.
When you make a Giving Tuesday gift today, here’s the experience you’ll make possible:
High ropes course – You’ll help more kids conquer their fears while 50 feet in the air on one of North America’s largest wheelchair accessible high ropes challenge courses at Camp Woodeden.
Sailing – With your support this Giving Tuesday, more kids with limited motor skills will be able to set sail on the water in our specialized sailboats.
Archery – Your gift today will allow more kids to take aim with a bow and arrow using a specially made bow holder so that most kids in wheelchairs, even with limited arm movement, can shoot the arrow all by themselves.
Swimming – You will help more campers experience the freedom of movement and independence while swimming – one of Camp Merrywood’s most popular activities!
Sledge Hockey – Your Giving Tuesday gift will help more kids feel the thrill of scoring a goal and leading their team to victory on the sledge hockey rink.
Rock climbing – You’ll help more campers reach new heights by conquering our indoor rock-climbing wall.
