February 2022, Message from Kevin Collins, President & CEO

Only one month into the year and we’re already finding ourselves pivoting and adapting to keep up with the curveballs of 2022.  And yet, as we move into February, we are optimistic about the increased opportunities to connect with Easter Seals families and supporters as restrictions are reduced across the province. 

Loss of connection over the past two years, to our families, friends, and communities has been challenging for many of us. Throughout the course of the pandemic, we have heard from numerous Easter Seals families who have endured extreme physical and social isolation in an effort to protect their child from illness. This is why we were elated to announce that Easter Seals camps will re-open for in-person camping in 2022! 

Our overnight camp programs at our two fully accessible properties will provide children, youth, and young adults with physical disabilities the opportunity to be active and reconnect with friends in an environment that is designed for their strengths and abilities. Our family camp sessions will offer a much-needed break for parents and a chance to have fun and connect with other Easter Seals families. All of this is only made possible through the kindness and generosity of supporters like you who continued to show up for Easter Seals kids throughout these challenging times.

Easter Seals relies on in-person events to raise funds for our programs and services. Thank you for sticking with us as we adjusted and adapted our events to accommodate rapidly evolving conditions.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, last year we were able to work together to raise $1.2M through our signature Celebrity Hockey Classic Series – an unbelievable accomplishment that will have a tremendous impact on families in need of support. If you didn’t get a chance to participate but are still looking to make a meaningful difference, you can check out any of our Snowarama events currently taking place across the province.
