For over 36 years, Bill Girard has served Easter Seals Ontario through its Windsor-Essex office as an exceptional volunteer, fundraiser, relationship builder and representative of the organization.
Bill has served Easter Seals Ontario (Windsor-Essex) as a VIP through its regional Telethon, which will be entering its 39th installment in 2021. Through his support, hard work and indefatigable efforts to help kids with physical disabilities, he continues to be a tremendous asset to the Windsor Telethon team.
Averaging well over $30,000 annually in revenue and new business, Bill has brought $1,080,000+ into the organization through his volunteer career, which would have helped a minimum of 360 children and youth get the essential equipment they need live with dignity and greater independence. In 2020, Bill shattered his individual fundraising record having generated $35,595 for kids with physical disabilities.
In addition, Bill’s company, Manor Real Estate in Windsor, along with his dedicated staff continue to be actively involved in raising funds each year for Easter Seals. In 2020, staff donated their commissions, gave through payroll deduction, and reached out for support to their networks to generate support. “Our staff do a lot to give back,” says Bill.
Bill’s dedication to Easter Seals stems from his concern that children need essential equipment and families simply can’t afford it on their own, and he is committed to raising funds to help families who really need it. “Typically, Easter Seals families have only one parent working and one parent needs to be at home caring for their child. They need the money to fund things like wheelchairs and communications equipment that is very expensive. It’s very important they get these donations,” says Bill. “I’m really happy that we are able to help.”
