Yes, I’ll make a life-changing donation now!
Without our donors, Easter Seals couldn’t have been there for over 770 children and youth with physical disabilities who receive funding to purchase essential mobility and accessibility equipment this year.
As you know, proper equipment is vital in providing a safe environment as well as ensuring kids with physical disabilities meet important developmental milestones and are included as active participants in their communities.
But this year, the demand for assistance has exceeded our funding capabilities. This means close to 200 children and youth will be left waiting in need of funding for mobility and accessibility equipment.
Caring for a child with a physical disability is expensive. It can cost families more than $40,000 a year to meet just the basic needs of a child with a severe disability. Equipment like wheelchairs can cost anywhere from $5,000 – $32,000.
Government agencies only cover part of the costs of certain pieces of equipment, and for some equipment, they cover nothing at all.
That’s why we need support from our donors.
Because of our donors, 10-year-old Madisen can get around the house – and out of the house – on her own. Diagnosed with a rare condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, or “brittle bone disease”, Madisen faces extreme challenges every day. Yet thanks to the generosity of our donors, Easter Seals was able to help provide Madisen’s family with a much-needed stair lift and porch lift.
Through your generosity, you help Easter Seals provide funding to families who may not otherwise have the resources to obtain essential equipment for their child. Almost half of the families who turned to Easter Seals for help self-reported household incomes of less than $40,000 a year.
Imagine what it’s like for a child with a physical disability who needs assistance to simply get around their home and community. It can be very lonely and isolating.
It’s thanks to our donors that Easter Seals has helped hundreds of kids this year. But we still have kids waiting for equipment as the demand for assistance has exceeded our funding capabilities.
Please make a year-end gift today and give the life-changing gift of mobility and accessibility to kids with physical disabilities. Thank you!
Sincerely,
