2004 Easter Seals Ambassadors

Jamie Reaume

2004 Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador

Jamie Reaume

Jamie Reaume’s enthusiasm and kindness make her an outstanding role model for young people and an exceptional representative for kids with physical disabilities.

Eight-year old Jamie has cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia. She uses leg braces, a walker and a wheelchair, but does not let this stop her from reaching her goals and having fun. She is quick to remark that her mom and dad encourage her to do the best she can all the time.

When asked what she is most looking forward to as a Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador,
Jamie says, “I really like adventures, and I know this year will be a great adventure!” Her energetic personality is apparent in all her likes from favourite television show The Magic School Bus to much loved book Mona the Vampire .

Jamie lives in Amherstburg near Windsor, where she is a bright grade-three student who enjoys math and reading. In her spare time, Jamie has fun doing research on the Web, practicing sledge hockey, swimming and has recently learned how to dribble a basketball quite well! She also likes to play with her little sister Tina, and her pets – a fish and a cat named Rudy.

When she grows up, Jamie would like to be a teacher, a pediatrician, a firefighter, or maybe a scientist. This engaging young girl is sure to be a successful advocate for kids with physical disabilities. In fact, Jamie has already written letters to decision makers and was the first to ride her town library’s new accessible elevator. A promising start for what will be a great year as the 2004 Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador.

Nandan Srikandarajah captures audiences with his encouraging words of wisdom and his determination to give a strong voice to kids with physical disabilities as the 2004 Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador.

Diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy, spastic diplegia, Nandan refuses to allow his disability to discourage him. A sports enthusiast, Nandan plays right wing and hopes to one-day play professional hockey. He models himself after Mats Sundin, his favourite Maple Leafs player.

Nandan, a seventh grader from Malton, has won public speaking awards at his school and makes it a point to inform others about kids with physical disabilities. This studious young man enjoys math so much so that he likes to solve problems in his spare time! He also likes playing video games, and watching his favourite television show SpongeBob SquarePants.

Twelve-year old Nandan inspires family, friends and teachers with his friendly and positive attitude. His advice to all kids is to try everything and never give up. It’s no surprise he has a particular fondness for the adventurous Harry Potter series.

Proud and excited to be the 2004 Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador, Nandan says, “I am most looking forward to meeting new people and traveling to new places across Ontario.” In turn, people can expect to be moved by his experiences and insight as he represents kids with physical disabilities.
