Fundraising Ideas
- Set a fundraising goal for yourself. You will be so proud when you reach it.
- Make a list of everyone you know who could potentially give a donation.
- Make a point of getting in touch with at least three people on your list every week.
- Keep a pledge form with you at all times. You just never know whom you might run into.
- Make sure you explain what you are doing and whom you are doing it for. People are inspired by acts of goodwill and helping kids with disabilities is an important cause. Skate for Easter Seals kids is a great example of kids helping kids.
- Recruit family members and friends to help you fundraise. That way, you
can have access to their network of friends and contacts too.
- Start fundraising early. People need time to get back to you or send a
cheque in the mail.
- Send e-mails online from the Skater's Dressing Room for online donations.
- Encourage all your supporters to hand in their pledge money before the Skate.
This will make your life so much easier, and you won't have to chase anyone
down after the event.
- Letter writing campaigns are very effective! Personalize them and use colourful
paper to add excitement to your request.
- Make it as easy as possible for your supporters to donate. Send a self-addressed
envelope with your request letter, or offer to pick up the cheque.
- Pace yourself. Don't get frustrated. Give yourself small goals per week,
and congratulate yourself when you accomplish them!
- Always say thank you, even to those who are unable to give you a donation for
the Skate. You never know, they may be willing to make a donation next year!
