The purpose of this research project is to examine the influence of need satisfaction and camp experience on well-being in campers with a physical disability. Should you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire assessing your child’s satisfaction with camp, well-being, and how camp may have helped them satisfy their basic psychological needs.
The questionnaires will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. What are you studying?
A Brock University Undergraduate Thesis student in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies is researching the effects of a summer camp experience on campers with physical disabilities. Researchers will be looking into how summer camp may impact the well-being and positive development of children and youth with physical disabilities.
Who can participate?
The participants are parents of children who:
a) Are registered with Easter Seals Ontario
b) Have attended an Easter Seals Ontario camp in the past, and for at least one session (6 day or 10 day) of residential, overnight camp
c) Are 6 to 26 years of age
What do I have to do?
Parents of children that have met the criteria will complete a questionnaire assessing their children’s experiences at camp and their overall well-being.
How long will it take?
It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
Why should I participate?
Results from this study may be used to improve the recreation and leisure programming for your child and other children with physical disabilities in your community.
