Easter Seals is looking for volunteers to represent children with physical disabilities on school board Special Education Advisory Committees (SEAC). Every school board in Ontario is required to have a Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), whose mandate is to provide advice to the school board staff and Trustees regarding special education programs and services. Volunteers attend monthly meetings at school board offices from September to June, and are appointed for a period up to four years.
We are currently looking for SEAC members and alternates in Ottawa, Renfrew County, Waterloo and Upper Grand. SEAC applicants must be over 18 years of age, Canadian citizens, resident in the school district and supporters of the school board. Applicants cannot be employees of the school board. The Easter Seals’ applicant process includes completion of a written application, reference checks and agreement with a Volunteer Code of Conduct.
