We currently have the following opportunities for dynamic and motivated individuals to join the Easter Seals team in Toronto.

DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
(One year contract with possibility of becoming permanent)
Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Officer will participate in implementing Easter Seals initiatives and fundraising events, which includes coordinating and promoting events, recruiting and working with volunteers, seeking sponsorships, developing proposals and identifying new opportunities for program expansion. Using your strong interpersonal skills you will collaborate with a range of stakeholders, promoting awareness of Easter Seals’ mission and programs within the community.

As the ideal candidate you are a team player who takes initiative in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Your ability to multi-task, exceptional customer service abilities and excellent communication skills are vital for this role. You have related post-secondary education; 3 years related fundraising experience and working knowledge of MS Office applications. Experience working with volunteers is an asset. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is mandatory as regular travel within the region is required.

MANAGER – SPECIAL EVENTS 
Working as a key member of the Fundraising and Development Team, out of our Toronto Office, you will be responsible for successfully managing Easter Seals Special Events with the support of the Development team. You will use expertise and provide support to other events in the department as required. This permanent, full-time position reports to the Senior Development Manager, Special Events, and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of our Development Officers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Business Planning
• Develop yearly business and marketing plans for your assigned events and those of your direct reports
• Develop budgets and maintain budget control
• Work with employees to identify issues and implement solutions
• Analyze data from marketing research, event evaluations and other sources as required and present recommendations
• Conduct program evaluations at the end of each event

Event/Project Implementation
• Develop processes for logistics and control of event elements
• Develop sponsorship packages, sell and service in kind to sponsors
• Work with Communications Department to develop and implement public and media relations plans
• Oversee development of marketing and promotional materials

Customer Service
• Ensure that systems and processes are in place to provide superior customer service to both internal and external customers including participants/attendees, sponsors, suppliers, volunteers and staff
• Manage sponsor and supplier relationships to ensure quality, budget and delivery timing objectives are met

Human Resources
• Provide committee support, management and leadership
• Develop and monitor performance plans for all direct reports
• Coach volunteers and employees
• Plan, recruit and manage contract staff and students
• Recruit, train, schedule and develop recognition initiatives for event volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS
• You have solid and progressive experience in the Special Events field (5 years) with demonstrated success in this area
• As a strong team player, you have excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills and the energy, creativity, enthusiasm and drive to make things happen
• You have solid working experience using relevant technology such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and the Internet with experience in Fundraising Software such as Raisers Edge is an asset to your portfolio
• Your ability to manage multiple priorities and from different sources is enhanced by your problem solving capabilities
• You are a professional with a strong customer service oriented approach which is complemented by your organizational and time management abilities
• Your post secondary education, preferably in event marketing, is complemented by relevant training and professional development. Working toward a CFRE designation or membership in AFP would be considered an asset
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be preferred

Note: Flexibility is necessary as this position will be required to work some weekends and evenings in addition to limited traveling within the province.
