Alison Morse, the Provincial Coordinator for Special Education, is seeking volunteers to represent Easter Seals Ontario on school board Special Education Advisory Committees (SEAC). Every school board in Ontario must have a SEAC, and SEAC Members provide advice to the Trustees about special education programs and services and the annual special education budget.
SEACs meet 10 times a year, usually monthly from September to June. SEAC members have the opportunity to learn about the special education programs and services provided by the school board and provide advice as programs are reviewed and when changes are being considered.
Easter Seals is looking for volunteers from across the province to be nominated as the SEAC representative or as an Alternate. At this time we are particularly seeking volunteers for the following school boards:
• Renfrew County Catholic District School Board
• Peterbrough, Clarington, Victoria and Northumberland Catholic District School Board
• Upper Grand District School Board
• York Catholic District School Board
If you are a Canadian Citizen, an elector for the school board, over the age of 18, and not an employee of the school board, you may be eligible for nomination to the SEAC of the school board where you reside. If you enjoy committee work and are interested in helping students with disabilities, please contact Alison Morse at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (416)696-1035 extension 335.
