Well known in the Sudbury area, Bob Leduc has been in the Latin, Ballroom and the Jive dance scene since the late 1980s. He has received the bronze level in all Latin, Ballroom dances, including Jive and has competed in the Latin division in Montreal. Leduc branched off to include Salsa, Bachata and Argentine Tango. He also assists his dance instructor, Jan from “Jan Fregonese’s Professional School of Dance.”
He is currently preparing for his silver exams while additionally prepping his dance partner for the bronze level exams. Bob and his partner have volunteered at various summer events and provided dance entertainment to the clients and staff at different senior’s homes and healthcare facilities. As well, Bob has volunteered for the Dancing With The Easter Seals Stars as a professional coach/instructor for the past seven years. This year will be his eighth season participating in this event.
Bob retired from Mines Engineering at Vale after 35.5 years of service. Before his retirement in April 2016, he worked as a full-time “Worker Advocate” for the United Steelworkers for seven years. Bob followed his real passion, advocating (since 2003) for persons with injuries, illness and disabilities. He has a true understanding of the challenges children with physical disabilities and their families face which come with an awareness of the associated costs.
Now he spends more time canoeing, hunting, soaking up the outdoors, going on Caribbean vacations, having both quiet and quality time with his three children, five grandchildren and counting.
