Well known in the Sudbury area, Bob has been in the Latin, Ballroom, Jive dance scene since the late 1980s. He has bronze level in all Latin, and Ballroom dances, including Jive and has competed in the Latin division in Montreal, He branched off to include Salsa, Bachata and Argentine Tango. Bob assists his dance instructor Jan, from “Jan Fregonese’s Professional school of Dance”.
He is currently preparing for silver level exams with his dance partner and both volunteer at various summer events and provide dance entertainment to the clients and staff at various seniors’ homes and healthcare facilities.
Retiring from Mines Engineering at Vale after 35.5 years he continued as a full time advocate for the United Steelworkers finally retiring in April 2016. He followed his true passion, advocating for persons with injuries, illness and disabilities. He has a true understanding of the challenges children with physical disabilities and their families face.
Finally retired, and at the age of 67, he will be spending more time with his three children and five grandchildren. His hobbies include baby sitting, canoeing, hunting, Caribbean vacations, quiet time and Martial Arts (which he started in the early 1970s). He currently holds a third degree black belt in the art of “Tae Kwon Do”.
Bob is excited to be back for a 7th year to showcase his new partner.
