Katie Switenky has trained and competed in various forms of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip hop from a very young age. She quickly learned that her passion for dance is best expressed when teaching and is currently teaching competitive and recreational classes at Pure Energy Performance Inc.
While completing her Honors B.A. at Wilfrid Laurier University, Katie was a dancer and choreographer for the Laurier Competitive Dance Team. She eventually became Captain and oversaw both competitive and recreational programs. With this opportunity, Katie was able to help establish Fashion for Freedom – a charity dance and fashion show. Katie then completed her Bachelor of Education and is now working as a certified teacher. She has shared her passion for dance by volunteering as an instructor at school dance-a-thon fundraisers. She has also helped various elementary schools in Hamilton and surrounding areas develop and implement an aerobic-based Daily Physical Activity program.
Currently, Katie is in her second year as a Cheerleader for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Being apart of this organization has provided many opportunities to be engaged in the community and support local charities. Katie is looking forward to combining her love of dance with this great initiative. “I am honoured to be apart of this event and I know that Hamilton will show tremendous love and support for Easter Seals!”
