Amber Pelzer
2003 Provincial Easter Seals Ambassador
Thirteen-year-old Amber Pelzer exudes confidence as she talks about becoming the 2003 Easter Seals Provincial Ambassador. “I’m excited about meeting new people, doing special events. I love giving speeches!” With a contagious enthusiasm for life and gift for engaging others with her remarkable words, Amber’s new role will come as second nature!
When she’s not busy winning awards for her speeches, Amber enjoys performing in other ways – like singing along to Shania Twain, her favourite country singer. She also enjoys swimming, horseback riding and talking on ‘msn.’
Amber has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, and she credits her mother and support worker for helping her understand her disability. “They tell me I’m just like everyone else.” Her ability to face and overcome challenges will make her an incredible role model for other youth with physical disabilities.
Living in Brantford with her parents, two younger brothers and a new baby sister, Amber is in grade 8. Her favourite subjects are English and French and she enjoys reading books from the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series.
Amber hasn’t pinpointed which career she’ll pursue in the future, there’s just so much to choose from! Her love of children may lead to becoming a pediatrician. We are sure Amber’s generous and lively spirit will brighten the lives of those she cares for and every person she meets as Provincial Ambassador.
